a. When a clock rules my life

Left me for dead.
Left me to rot.
Never, when asked,
once did they stop.
A beautiful moment
crashes across,
and I’ve had enough of this Chaos Clock.

Messages beeping,
inboxes full.
I have had just ‘bout enough of it all.
Invested my time,
ran at a loss,
now I’ve had enough of this Chaos Clock.

They promised us order,
but I run all the time.
There’s a hidden agenda I’m going to find
as I start to wonder; what’s behind the wall?
I’m beginning to suspect there’s nothing at all:
just a handle and a chain –
well I won’t stop pondering
until I grab it by the hand,
and pull it,
and twist it,
and smash into the face.

You had the time to wash your hands,
you had the time to admit we’re not ourselves.
We had the time for providence,
we had the proof our life was not our own.
But until the time is done,
a veil lies before us.
And behind it lies the world,
but the world has left us empty
and cursed our faulty hides,
we’ve left our lies to others,
and rebuilt our lives.
On the edge of the clock,
a rusted, broken man falls.
